Who is Sparks?
I didn't follow the path. I created my own.
My name is Sophia Guillaume — but most people know me as Sparks.
I've been in the beauty industry for over a decade, and not a single day of it has felt ordinary. What started as a self-taught passion for makeup artistry became a full career built on instinct, precision, and an obsessive love for the craft. Ten years of showing up, learning on set, and refining a technique that is entirely my own.
The Work
Over the years, I've worked alongside photographers, directors, and creative teams on everything from fashion shows and video productions to web series and large-scale brand campaigns. I've served as both lead makeup artist and assistant coordinator on major productions — roles that taught me how to deliver under pressure without ever compromising on quality.
My clientele spans everyday people, brides, photographers, and global celebrities — including Wyclef Jean, Cardi B, Tory Lanez, Kranium, Imposs, Carmelita Jeter, Fabiola Aladin, Malika Tirolien, Varda Etienne and many more. Each collaboration, regardless of scale, receives the same level of intention and care.
My work has been featured in Clin d'Oeil and Black Milk Women, and I've shared my perspective on the industry through podcasts including Opinion Impopulaire, Portrait 10/10 stage 2424 and Boulevard des Artistes. I've collaborated with brands like Adidas, Roots, UdeM and St-Rémy, and have been featured on TVA Révolution , TV5, Radio -Canada and Télé-Québec.
Training & Expertise
While my makeup artistry career was built through years of hands-on, self-taught experience on set and in studio, I later pursued formal training to master the technical precision that advanced beauty services demand. I am certified in permanent makeup and the full range of specialty services offered at Sparks Atelier — bringing both raw creative instinct and rigorous professional training to every single appointment.
This combination is what makes the work different. It's not just technique, and it's not just artistry — it's both, at the same time, every time.
My Vision
Beauty, to me, is not about covering up — it's about revealing. Every face tells a story, and my job is to help that story land exactly the way it was meant to.
I've always been drawn to natural technique — not because I shy away from boldness, but because I believe the most powerful looks are the ones that feel like you, just elevated. Precision matters. Skin matters. The way light hits a cheekbone matters. These details are what separate good makeup from work that actually moves people.
I also believe that beauty should be for everyone. Inclusivity isn't a trend in my practice — it's the foundation. Every client who sits in my chair deserves to feel seen, understood, and celebrated exactly as they are.
Sparks Atelier
Sparks Atelier is the physical and creative home of everything I've built over the past ten years.
Located in Montreal, the studio was created for people who want more than a beauty appointment — they want an experience. Whether you're coming in for permanent makeup, lash extensions, tooth gems, or a full glam session, every service is executed with the same standard: technical excellence, personalized care, and results that genuinely last.
Beyond services, Sparks Atelier is also an education space. Through private classes and professional training programs, I share the methods and knowledge I've spent a decade developing — with the next generation of beauty artists who are ready to build something real.
This studio is not just where I work. It's where I pour everything I know into every single client who walks through the door.
Let's create something together.
Whether you're booking your first appointment, planning your wedding look, or ready to take your skills to the next level — you're in the right place.
